WWII M1 Helmet Liner Headband (Early-Mid War)

WWII M1 Helmet Liner Headband (Early-Mid War)

This is a well-used, original WWII M1 helmet liner headband. Just enough of its contract number stamping is visible to discern that it was manufactured by Paul K. Weil Co. The leather has dried somewhat with age, but still remains quite soft and pliable. The heavily rusted hardware began its life as green painted steel, dating the headband's production from mid-1942 to late-1943. This would be an ideal headband for a helmet liner with either non-painted or green painted steel A-washers.
