Mid-WWII Swivel Loop Schlueter M1 Helmet Shell (1944)
This is an original WWII U.S. Schlueter manufactured front seam swivel loop M1 helmet shell. The heat stamp of 290A approximately dates the helmet's production to October 1944. Stenciled on the front of the helmet in black paint is the number "41" - possibly indicating Navy or Marine Corps use. In addition to the marking, it retains its original factory paint, cork texture, and OD#3 (khaki) chinstrap. This helmet would pair very nicely with a high pressure helmet liner with either green painted steel or blackened brass A-washers.
