Early-WWII Westinghouse M1 Helmet Liner With Rayon Suspension (Complete)
This is an original early-WWII Westinghouse manufactured M1 helmet liner. It features non-painted aluminum rectangular washers, a first pattern rayon suspension, and an intact, albeit fragile, stationary leather liner strap. These features date the liner's production to mid-1942. The rayon suspension is strong and intact. It comes complete with its original headband and neckband, both of which were manufactured by Scholl Manufacturing Co. This use of khaki accessories in a rayon liner is an interesting example of simply using what was available at the time. This helmet liner would nicely complete a mid-1942 fixed loop helmet shell.
