Original WW2 USN D-Day Inflatable Life Preserver Belt (1944) For Sale

WWII USN M1926 D-Day Inflatable Life Preserver Belt (1944)

This is an original WWII USN M1926 inflatable life preserver belt, as worn by Allied servicemen during D-Day and other amphibious invasions. This particular example was manufactured by Durkee-Atwood Co., and what makes it unique among the majority of those available is that it actually predates D-Day, with a production date of February 6, 1944, making it ideal for the discerning collector. The canvas is in quite good shape and the rubber hoses remain soft and pliable. The only flaw of note is that it is unfortunately missing its metal slide buckle, however these can often be salvaged from damaged examples should the new owner so desire.
