This original WWII U.S. M1 helmet liner headband was manufactured by a somewhat uncommon producer, Midwest Shoe & Slipper Mfg. Co. The leather remains quite soft and pliable. The hardware is green painted steel, dating the headband's production from mid-1942 to late-1943. This would be an ideal headband for a helmet liner with either non-painted or green painted steel A-washers.
