Mid-WWII U.S. Leather Liner Strap With Green Steel Buckle
This is an original early-WWII U.S. leather liner strap. The leather is somewhat grimy, but remains soft and pliable. The curved buckle is green painted steel, dating the strap's production from mid-1943 to mid-1944. The buckle's underside exhibits an anchor stamp, which is well documented and explained on page 104 of The M-1 Helmet of the World War II GI. It features non-marked, green-painted steel rivets. This would be an ideal strap for a high-pressure helmet liner with green painted steel A-washers.
