WWII U.S. Leather Liner Strap With Flat Green Steel Buckle
This is an original WWII leather liner strap. The leather is still quite pliable, however it has conformed to the shape of a helmet's brim, with surface cracking at the folds. The green painted steel buckle is the early variety with the flat lip, dating the strap's production from late-1942 to mid-1943. It features a combination of both green-painted steel and blackened-brass United Carr rivets. This would be an ideal strap for a helmet liner with non-painted steel A-washers (including Hawleys and St. Clairs).
