This is an original and complete WWII German single decal Waffen SS M40 helmet set. It is in combat-used condition. The helmet's original feldgrau finish shows minor surface rust throughout. The original ET SS decal is in excellent condition; it was applied at a slight tilt, most likely to appear more aligned when marching. The helmet's inside brim is size stamped ET64 lot number 940, denoting 1941 production by the Eisenhüttenwerke, Thale factory. The stampings correspond with a confirmed Waffen SS helmet recorded in Brian Ice's research on German helmet lot numbers as well as the example shown on pages 279-280 of Kelly Hicks' SS-Steel. The helmet's interior retains its original size 57 leather liner and aluminum-buckled chinstrap. The leather liner is inscribed with "SS Schütze" (SS private); the following portion was likely marked with the original veteran's name, however due to the leather's deterioration it is unfortunately illegible. The helmet's split pins and washers are all original and show no signs of tampering. Like all of our offerings, this helmet is guaranteed genuine and, upon request, a Certificate of Authenticity will be included in the sale.
