Original WW2 German M40 Ex-Single Decal Heer Helmet & Liner Set With Snow Camouflage (Q64) For Sale

WWII German M40 Ex-Single Decal Heer Winter Camouflage Helmet & Liner Set (Q64)

This original WWII German manufactured M40 helmet has an exceptional combat-used appearance. Within the crevices of the field repaint we can still see remnants of its original winter whitewash. Beneath the repaint, on the wearer's left side is an apparent decal. Of the three examples recorded in Brian Ice's German Helmet Lot Numbers 1935-1945 that share this same model, manufacturer, size, and lot number, all are single decal Heers. The inside brim is size stamped Q64, lot number 362, denoting 1941 production by the Quist, Esslingen factory. The interior retains its original, albeit damaged, leather liner. Just next to the lot number is the overpainted and chipped surname of its original owner, "Heinso[...]", which most likely read "Heinsohn" originally. Amazingly, Heinsohn (or whomever applied the field repaint) pressed their fingerprint into the helmet's paint just to the right of the rear split pin. The helmet's split pins are somewhat bent, and its washers are missing. That said, the split pins do not appear to have been manipulated recently, and were likely removed, then reinstalled, during the helmet's field repainting.
