WWII Corporal's Fixed Loop Schlueter M1 Helmet Shell (Early-1943)

WWII Corporal's Fixed Loop Schlueter M1 Helmet Shell (Early-1943)

This is an original mid-WWII U.S. Schlueter manufactured front seam fixed loop M1 helmet shell. The heat stamp of 50A dates the helmet's production to early-1943. At the helmet's sides, beneath the original wartime field repaint, lies two separate applications of corporal's stripes. The helmet's original khaki chinstraps exhibit early brass hardware and the laundry number, "M-1121". The same laundry number is stamped in the helmet's interior. Unfortunately, a prior owner hammered a dent from the dome, but the evidence of this being a relatively recent alteration is only visible when the helmet is without a liner. This helmet would be an ideal match for either a liner with non-painted or green painted steel A-washers.
