Original Mid-WW2 U.S. Fixed Loop Schlueter M1 Helmet Shell (Mid-1943) For Sale

Mid-WWII U.S. Fixed Loop Schlueter M1 Helmet Shell (Mid-1943)

This is an original mid-WWII U.S. Schlueter manufactured fixed loop M1 helmet shell. The helmet's heat stamp is faint, however it appears to read 44A, which would indicate approximately mid-1943 production. It retains its original factory paint, cork texture, and OD#3 (khaki) chinstraps. The chinstraps' brass buckle is the "raised-bar" variety. The webbing is named to a "NELSON", and on its reverse is a faint Army serial number. It appears to read "W2142082", which would indicate its original owner was a warrant officer. Unfortunately, we could not locate a match within the Army Warrant Officers (1942-1945) records - potentially indicating a pre-1942 commission date. There are no stress cracks, however there is surface rust throughout. This helmet would pair quite nicely with a liner with green-painted steel A-washers.
