Early-WWII U.S. International Molded Plastics M1 Helmet Liner (1942-43)
This is an original early-WWII U.S. International Molded Plastics manufactured M1 helmet liner. The liner's exterior features an original field repaint. The parkerized steel A-washers date the liner's production from late-1942 to mid-1943. The khaki suspension is strong and intact. It is marked with the ID of an officer, as evident by the "O"-prefix in the laundry number. Unfortunately, officers' enlistment records are not publicly available, however we can deduce the original owner's last name was Affelt and the last five digits of Affelt's serial number were 91551. As for the "862-5 6-38" written on the neck suspension, its significance is unfortunately unknown to us. There remains a substantial research opportunity for its new owner; to assist in that research, the liner was sourced from Colorado Springs, Colorado. It comes complete with an original Jos. N. Eisendrath Co. headband and Comfort Slipper Corp. neckband. This liner would pair quite nicely with a fixed loop M1 helmet shell.
