This is an original WWII U.S. M1 helmet set. The McCord manufactured front seam fixed loop helmet shell exhibits a stenciled '122' - most likely denoting Navy use. It has a heat stamp of 371D, dating its production to December 1942. In addition to its USN markings, the helmet retains its original factory paint, cork texture, and brass-buckled khaki chinstraps. The high pressure helmet liner's manufacturer's marking is hidden beneath a layer of dirt and dust. Its original olive drab factory paint finish is good condition. It features green painted steel A-washers and a khaki suspension, which dates the liner's production from mid-1943 to mid-1944. The khaki suspension is strong and intact. It comes complete with its original headband, neckband, and green-buckled leather liner strap. The leather components have dried somewhat with time.
