WWII U.S. M1 Helmet Liner Headband (Mid-Late War)
This is an original WWII U.S. M1 helmet liner headband. Unfortunately, the manufacturer's marking has faded beyond legibility. It exhibits green painted steel clips and a blackened brass buckle, a combination introduced on November 5, 1943 and utilized until the end of the war. The OD#3 (khaki) fabric is fraying in some areas and the leather is marked with its original owner's ID. This would be an ideal headband for a high-pressure helmet liner with either green painted steel or blackened brass A-washers.
