WWII U.S. Canteen, Cup, & Cover (Named)
This original U.S. canteen set is ID'd to Robert Otto Wrase, serial number 16244905. View the Veteran's Information section for more details regarding Wrase's military service. The canteen was manufactured in 1942 by A.G.M. Co. Etched into its aluminum body is the word "Casa"; unfortunately its significance is unknown. The cork seal has deteriorated somewhat, but remains intact. The cup was produced by B.E. Co. in 1945. The only visible markings on the OD#3 canvas cover are the "U.S." insignia and Wrase's name and serial number.
Veteran's Information
Walworth County, Wisconsin resident, Robert Otto Wrase, serial number 16244905, was born on May 21, 1928 near Springfield, Wisconsin. He served in the Air Force and was a veteran of both WWII and the Korean War, eventually attaining the rank of sergeant. At just 37 years of age, Sergeant Wrase died on November 15, 1965. He is laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetary in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. Below, are Wrase's records from the National Archives, as well as a copy of his obituary.
