This is an original WWII U.S. Army Air Corps/Force officer's service cap. It is constructed of a summer-weight khaki material, and features a russet brown leather brim and chinstrap. These were popular among American airmen in the PTO and, during the summer months, in the ETO. The front is decorated with the brass "large eagle" insignia, as used by U.S. Army officers. Its interior is tagged a size 6 3/4, and the original wire stiffener remains intact. Unfortunately, there is damage to the headband throughout and no manufacturer's marking could be located.
