This is an original WWII McCord manufactured M1-C paratrooper helmet. It is a transitional example, with a stainless steel rim meeting at the rear. The heat stamp of 1163C dates the helmet's production to November 1944. It retains its original factory paint, cork texture, and OD#7 para straps. The front of the helmet appears to have remnants of a welded officer's rank insignia. The helmet's interior is ID'd to Frank Trobaugh, serial #16358198. This M1-C helmet shell would pair quite nicely with a Westinghouse paratrooper liner.
