Late-WWII U.S. M1-C Airborne Paratrooper Rear Seam Helmet Shell (November 1944)
This is an original WWII McCord manufactured M1-C paratrooper helmet shell. It has a manganese steel rim meeting at the rear. The heat stamp of 1158E dates the helmet's production to November 1944. The helmet retains an original field repaint, although large portions have flaked away due to apparent bullet impacts. The factory-applied OD#7 (green) para straps are intact, however a line of stitching has been undone - likely in an attempt to extend the straps' overall length. The interior features the names of numerouse servicemen: "D. W. Taylor", "Errol", and "Tate". This M1-C helmet shell would pair quite nicely with a Westinghouse paratrooper liner.
