This is an original WWII leather liner strap. It features United Carr stamped blackened brass rivets. The underside of the leather is stamped with an 'H', denoting production by the Hagerstown Leather Co. The leather has conformed to the shape of a helmet's brim, but is still soft and supple. The reverse of the blackened brass buckle exhibits the rare patent number of 2363872, dating the strap's production to November 28, 1944. This would be an ideal strap for a high-pressure helmet liner with blackened brass A-washers.
