This is an original WWII German manufactured M42 helmet. The inside brim is size stamped CKL66, lot number 5072, denoting late-1943 production by the Eisenhüttenwerke, Thale factory. This helmet showcases its original slate grey textured finish and would have left the factory after the cessation of decal application. The interior retains its original size 59 leather liner, torn drawstring, and leather chinstrap. Interestingly, as the war progressed and supplies became limited, liner manufacturers began laminating smaller pieces of leather together in order to make complete liners - this is one such "spliced" example. The chinstrap exhibits a grey-painted steel buckle and no visible manufacturer's marking. The helmet's split pins and washers are all original and show no signs of tampering, although one has been bent as a result from normal use.
