This is an original WWII German 1939 manufactured Luftschutz three-piece gladiator helmet. The RL2 38/31 stamping on the interior brim denotes production by the Maury & Co. Lederwarenfabrik, Offenbach factory. Interestingly, members of the Luftschutz were required to purchase their own helmets upon joining the organization and "Höchstpreis 8.00 RM" means members were not to be charged more than 8 Reichsmarks per helmet. The helmet's outer circumference measures approximately 64 cm and it is outfitted with a size 56 leather liner. It retains its original factory blue paint and well-worn decal. The interior's original leather liner is in good condition, however its chinstrap is missing. The cork liner spacers are square, denoting war-time installation. The helmet's split pins and washers are all original and show no signs of tampering.
