This is an original WWII German matching leather chinstrap set. This example was reissued by the Norwegian military following WWII. Its distinctive post-war red dye was painstakingly removed and its leather has been replenished with antique leather conditioner. It was manufactured in 1940 by the rare maker, Czalos-Itzer Lederwerke. It exhibits the early war aluminum buckle variation. The leather has stiffened over time, however it remains pliable. There is a portion of leather on the longer strap near the retaining stud which has worn thin. This would be an ideal chinstrap for an M40 helmet.
