This is an original early-WWII U.S. McCord manufactured front seam fixed loop M1 helmet shell. The heat stamp of 632D dates the helmet's production to September 1943. It retains its original olive drab factory paint finish, cork texture, and khaki chinstrap. The chinstrap exhibits steel hardware. The helmet's fixed loops are strong and intact. The front of the helmet exhibits a tactical marking etched into the paint; the marking's significance is unknown, but can most likely be attributed to the Marine Corps given the circumstances in which the helmet was originally acquired (along with numerous other USMC items).
