This is an original and well-used WWII U.S. McCord manufactured fixed loop M1 helmet shell. The heat stamp is unfortunately hidden beneath the rusty interior, however judging by the later style fixed loops and steel J-hook, this helmet was likely produced in 1943. It retains an original field repaint, cork texture, and one of its chinstraps. There are a couple stress cracks throughout, however the helmet's fixed loops are strong and intact. Whether the new owner decides to match the helmet with a well-used liner or restore it with the proper chinstrap, this helmet will make an excellent display piece.
