This is an original WWII hastily-painted lieutenant's helmet set. The McCord manufactured fixed loop M1 helmet shell's heat stamp of 697C dates its production to November 1943. In addition to the helmet's original lieutenant's markings, it retains its original factory paint, cork texture, and steel-buckled khaki chinstraps. The straps are frayed near the fixed loops. The early transitional Inland manufactured lieutenant's helmet liner was recently paired with the helmet shell, however they are a perfect match. The liner features an inverted Inland logo, non-painted steel A-washers, and a stationary leather liner strap, dating the liner's production to mid-1942. The khaki suspension is soiled and torn throughout. The liner comes complete with its original double wire headband and khaki neckband.
