This is an original early-WWII U.S. M1 helmet set. The McCord manufactured fixed loop helmet shell's heat stamp of 86B dates the helmet's production to February, 1942. It features its original factory paint, cork texture, and khaki chinstraps. The chinstraps exhibit early brass hardware. The helmet's early style fixed loops are strong and intact. The Hawley manufactured helmet liner retains non-painted steel rectangular washers, a first pattern rayon suspension, and remnants of a stationary leather liner strap, dating the liner's production from mid-1941 to mid-1942. The rayon suspension is strong and intact. It comes complete with its original size '3' rayon neckband and a recently installed size 7 1/8 rayon headband.
