This is an original early-WWII U.S. M1 helmet set. The McCord manufactured fixed loop helmet shell has a thin coat of mud throughout, possibly applied for camouflage purposes. The heat stamp of 741C dates the helmet's production to December 1943. It retains its original factory paint, cork texture, and khaki chinstraps. The straps feature steel hardware. The helmet has recently been outfitted with an original early WWII Hawley manufactured helmet liner. The A-washers are non-painted steel, dating the liner's production to late-1942. The khaki suspension is frayed in a couple spots, but overall it is still strong and intact. The liner comes complete with an original double wire headband and Vogt Mfg. Co. neckband. The headband's leather is dry and deteriorated. The Hawley liner exhibits cracks throughout.
