This is an original WWII Bronze Star, consisting of all three components and the leatherette wrapped metal "coffin" case. These were introduced on February 4, 1944 (with retroactive eligibility), and were awarded to U.S. Servicemen for either heroic achievement, heroic service, meritorious achievement, or meritorious service in a combat zone.
