Original Early-WW2 British-Made U.S. "Commando" Camouflage Helmet Net For Sale

Early-WWII British-Made U.S. "Commando" Camouflage Helmet Net

This is an original, and exceptionally rare, WWII British manufactured "Commando" camouflage M1 helmet net - the first and only example we have ever offered for sale. Starting in 1942, these were produced expressly for the U.S., and were most commonly seen in the Pacific Theater of Operations. Although originally constructed of OD#7 (green) material, these often faded to a salmon-like color when exposed to the sun, which is apparent on this example. When the drawstring on these is pulled tight, the net’s sides bunch up, forming a sunburst-type effect, making it easily recognizable in original wartime photographs. They were designed to be worn with the excess material either tucked neatly between the shell and the liner, or with the front material out, forming a sniper veil. The M1 helmet shown is just for display purposes and is not included.
