WWII 87th "Golden Acorn" Division Swivel Loop M1 Helmet & Firestone Liner Set
This late-WWII helmet set once belonged to a private in the 87th "Golden Acorn" Infantry Division, 346th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Battalion. The McCord manufactured swivel loop helmet shell's faintly legible heat stamp of 859C dates its production to April 1944, making use during the Battle of the Bulge quite likely. The helmet retains its original factory finish, cork texture, and khaki chinstrap. The chinstrap exhibits a flat brass buckle. The Firestone manufactured helmet liner displays quite nicely with its original hand-painted tactical markings. The interior is marked with the faint remnants of a laundry number. It features blackened brass A-washers, which date the liner's production from mid-1944 to 1945. The khaki suspension is torn and unfortunately one of the liner's rivets has pulled away from the liner, leaving a hole in its place. It comes complete with its original headband and neckband.
