This is an original WWI German M17 helmet set. It is in very good and complete condition for being over 100 years old. The helmet's inside brim is size stamped ET64, denoting production by the Eisenhüttenwerke, Thale factory. The helmet's interior retains its original three-pad leather liner system. The leather components are strong and intact, but do show some wear. The split pins are all original and show no signs of tampering. Stamped into the interior crown is a faint lot number. The inside also features a hand-written tag, placed there by "Edward Smith" - likely the WWI veteran who brought the helmet home as a souvenir. Additionally, penciled markings can be seen throughout the interior of the helmet.
