This is an original USAREUR painted WWII helmet set. The USAREUR succeeded the Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force in 1945. The occupation-era painted markings have been authenticated with the assistance of advanced digital microscopy. The previously undetectable micro cracking, which most forgers have yet to correctly replicate, is readily apparent under magnification. The McCord manufactured front seam fixed loop helmet shell's heat stamp of 653B dates its production to September 1943. It retains its original field repaint, cork texture, and chinstraps. The straps exhibit field repairs, steel hardware, and a faintly stamped laundry number. The red painted Mine Safety Appliances manufactured helmet liner features green painted steel A-washers, dating its production from mid-1943 to mid-1944. The liner comes complete with its original headband and Am. Stay Co. manufactured neckband. The khaki suspension has begun to fray throughout, but overall it is still intact.
