Original Pre-WW2 Spanish Civil War Condor Legion German M35 Helmet & Liner Set (Size 62) For Sale

Pre-WWII German Spanish Civil War Legion Condor M35 Helmet & Liner Set (Size 62)

This is an original pre-WWII German M35 helmet that was used by General Francisco Franco's fascist forces during the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939). The interior dome of the helmet still exhibits its original Luftwaffe feldblau paint. The "Legion Condor" consisted of Luftwaffe forces sent to serve the Nationalist cause in Spain. In all, approximately 19,000 Germans fought during the Spanish Civil War, culminating in victory for General Franco and his fascist forces. The front of the helmet was twice punctured to accomodate the now-missing regulatory eagle badge of the Spanish Army. The helmet's field repaint has concealed the interior brim's factory, size, and lot number stampings, however given what we know about pre-war M35 production, it was likely manufactured by the Eisenhüttenwerke, Thale factory. The helmet has been measured and it is a confirmed size 62. It comes complete with its original leather liner, drawstring, and aluminum-buckled leather chinstrap - all of which show consistent wear. Interestingly, both the non-reinforced M1931 aluminum liner band and leather chinstrap are of German origin, while the liner leather is from an Adrian helmet. The split pins and washers are all original and show no signs of tampering.
