This is an original 1937 manufactured German M1931 helmet liner system. It exhibits the rare stamping of Max Densow, Berlin. Max Densow liners are quite rare in that none are known to exist with post-1938 markings. The leather liner is a size 59; to be paired with a size 66 helmet shell. The leather is heavily worn and has shrunken with age; it is missing its drawstring. The liner features a very early non-reinforced aluminum band. Contrary to popular belief, aluminum can and will corrode given the right circumstances, which unfortunately have been met on this example. This would be an ideal liner system for a well-worn M35 helmet.
