Pre-WWII German M35 66/58 Helmet Liner (1938)
This is an original pre-WWII German M1931 helmet liner system. It has a very distinct black overspray throughout, which has been observed on Waffen SS helmets that were repainted black for parade use (Germany's Combat Helmets, pages 60-62). The leather liner is a size 58, to be paired with a size 66 helmet shell. Its reinforced aluminum band showcases a 1938 production stamp by Metall-Lederverarbeitung W.Z. Bln. Ch'burg 5. The drawstring is missing and the leather is dry, however each of the eight tongues remains intact. Remnants of its original 1938-dated chinstrap are still affixed to its mounts. This would be an ideal liner system for an M35 helmet in equally rough condition. Split pins sold separately.
