This is an original mid-WWII Westinghouse manufactured M1 helmet liner. The liner's exterior showcases its original factory finish. The green-painted steel A-washers date the liner's production from mid-1943 to mid-1944. The khaki suspension is slightly frayed at the front-center washer, but remains strong and intact. It has recently been completed with an original Companion Bags, Inc. headband and neckband. This liner would pair quite nicely with either a fixed loop or swivel loop M1 helmet shell.
