Mid-WWII U.S. Swivel Loop Schlueter M1 Helmet Shell (1943)
This is an original WWII U.S. front seam Schlueter manufactured M1 helmet shell. The heat stamp of 92A dates the helmet's production to 1943. Evidence of re-welding at the loops, in combination with the relatively early heat stamp, indicates this helmet likely left the factory as a fixed loop before undergoing a depot refurbishment. Inscribed in its interior is the identification of its original owner, an apparent "Withington". It retains an original field repaint, cork texture, and an OD#3 (khaki) chinstrap. The chinstrap features brass hardware. This helmet would pair very nicely with a high pressure helmet liner with green-painted steel A-washers.
