Mid-WWII U.S. Schlueter Fixed Loop M1 Helmet & Westinghouse Liner Set (1943)
This is an original and lightly-used mid-WWII U.S. M1 helmet set. The Schlueter manufactured front seam fixed loop helmet shell has a heat stamp of 144A, dating its production to mid-1943. It retains its original olive drab factory finish, cork texture, and flat brass-buckled OD#7 (green) chinstraps. Interestingly, this is the earliest Schlueter we have encountered with factory-applied OD#7 chinstraps; the prior record-holder had a heat stamp of 149A. One of the chinstraps is lightly frayed near the loop. It has recently been paired with an original Westinghouse manufactured helmet liner. The green-painted steel A-washers and khaki suspension date the liner's production from mid-1943 to mid-1944. The khaki suspension is strong and intact. It comes complete with an original Yale Suspender & Belt Co. headband and neckband. The liner's exterior exhibits its original olive drab finish.
