Mid-WWII U.S. Medic's Painted Fixed Loop M1 Helmet & Firestone Liner Set (1943)
This is an original mid-WWII U.S. medic's helmet. The wartime painted marking has been authenticated with the assistance of advanced digital microscopy. The paint's micro cracking, which most forgers have yet to correctly replicate, is readily apparent under magnification. The McCord manufactured fixed loop helmet shell's heat stamp of 386C dates its production to January 1943. In addition to the helmet's original medical marking, it showcases an original factory finish, cork texture, and tattered brass-buckled OD#3 (khaki) chinstraps. The helmet has recently been paired with an original Firestone manufactured liner. The liner features green-painted steel A-washers, dating the liner's production from mid-1943 to mid-1944. The liner's khaki suspension is strong and intact. It comes complete with an original headband, neckband, and green-buckled leather liner strap.
