Mid-WWII U.S. Fixed Loop M1 Helmet & Westinghouse Liner (1943 Set)
This is an original and well-used mid-WWII U.S. M1 helmet set. The McCord manufactured front seam fixed loop helmet shell has a heat stamp of 638A, dating its production to September 1943. The helmet retains its original olive drab factory finish, cork texture, and steel-buckled OD#3 (khaki) chinstraps. The masking tape in the interior was likely applied to reduce noise. The helmet exhibits a large stress crack, dents, and a failed weld point on one of the fixed loops. It has recently been paired with an original Westinghouse manufactured helmet liner in equally rough condition. The green-painted steel A-washers and khaki suspension date the liner's production from mid-1943 to mid-1944. The khaki suspension is torn by the wearer's front, center washer. It comes complete with its original Johnson & Johnson manufactured headband.
