This is an original mid-WWII Second Lieutenant's Inland/Firestone manufactured M1 helmet liner. Beneath the original hand-painted officer's rank, the liner retains its factory finish. The green-painted steel A-washers date the liner's production from mid-1943 to mid-1944. The khaki suspension is strong and intact. It comes complete with its original neckband and double-wire headband. We did not want to undo the headband's buckle in order to better capture its manufacturer's marking, however we can tell that it is one of the earliest variations likely manufactured by George Frost Co., due to the "box" logo.
