This is an original mid-WWII U.S. M1 helmet set. The McCord manufactured front seam helmet shell's heat stamp of 769A is quite high for a fixed loop, establishing this as one of the last helmets produced prior to the switch to swivel loops in November 1943. It retains its original factory paint, cork texture, and steel-buckled khaki chinstraps. The original mid-WWII Mine Safety Appliances manufactured helmet liner has green-painted steel A-washers, dating the liner's production from mid-1943 to mid-1944. The khaki suspension is strong and intact. It has recently been completed with an original Scholl Manufacturing Co. headband, Comfort Slipper Corporation neckband, and a green-buckled leather liner strap.
