This is an original matching mid-WWII Captain's M1 helmet set. The McCord manufactured front seam fixed loop helmet shell has a heat stamp of 638A, dating its production to September 1943. In addition to the hand-painted Captain's rank, the helmet retains its original olive drab factory finish, cork texture, and brass-buckled khaki chinstraps. Painted over the MSA manufactured liner's original olive drab factory paint finish is a matching Captain's rank. Both the shell and liner are inscribed with the original owner's initials, "JM", showcasing their long history together as a set. The liner's green-painted steel A-washers and khaki suspension date the liner's production from mid-1943 to mid-1944. The khaki suspension is strong and intact. It comes complete with its original headband, neckband, green buckled leather liner strap, and net.
