Late-WWII U.S. Swivel Loop Schlueter M1 Helmet Shell (1943)
This is an original WWII U.S. front seam Schlueter manufactured M1 helmet shell. The heat stamp of 42A dates the helmet's production from January 1943 to November 1943. Evidence of grinding at the swivel loops, in combination with the relatively early heat stamp, indicates this helmet likely left the factory as a fixed loop before undergoing a depot refurbishment. It retains original paint, cork texture, and just a single OD#7 (green) chinstrap. The chinstrap features a flat steel buckle. This helmet would pair very nicely with a high pressure helmet liner with blackened brass A-washers. Whether the new owner decides to match the helmet with a well-used liner or restores it with the proper chinstrap, it will make an excellent display piece.
