Late-WWII U.S. Swivel Loop McCord M1 Helmet Shell (November 1944)
This is an original late-WWII McCord manufactured M1 helmet. It is a transitional example, with a manganese steel rim meeting at the front. Due to the brush-applied field repaint, the heat stamp is only partially legible; however, because of its transitional features we know it dates to November 1944. The helmet also retains its original factory cork texture and OD#3 (khaki) chinstraps. This M1 helmet shell would pair quite nicely with a liner with blackened brass A-washers.
