Late-WWII U.S. Officer's Westinghouse M1 Helmet Liner (ID'd)
This original U.S. WWII Westinghouse manufactured M1 helmet liner is identified to a "Brownback", serial number O-539323. Given the serial number's format, not to mention the additional hole at the liner's front (most likely added to accommodate a Lieutenant's pin), we can be certain Brownback was an officer. Unfortunately, officer records are not readily available, however services like Golden Arrow Research have special access should the new owner decide to pursue that opportunity. To assist in that research, this helmet liner was originally sourced from Alexandria, Virginia. The liner's original olive drab factory finish is in good condition. It features blackened brass A-washers, which date its production from mid-1944 to 1945. The OD#3 (khaki) suspension is present, but unfortunately torn by the wearer's front, center washer. It comes complete with its original headband and neckband, both of which are marked with their original owner's ID - showcasing their long history together. This liner would be an ideal match for a swivel loop helmet shell.
