This is an original WWII U.S. “Net, Helmet, with Band”, better known by collectors as the “M44” net. Interestingly, it wasn’t until the M44 that the U.S. created its own camouflage helmet net. The vast majority of helmet nets seen in wartime photos are of British manufacture. A quick scan of our past net offerings seems to support this theory as this is the first M44 (among numerous British examples) we’ve been fortunate enough to offer! These began appearing in wartime photographs in the European Theater starting in the Fall of 1944. It is photographed, here, displayed on a fixed loop helmet set (not included), but would be appropriate for swivel loops as well.
