Late-WWII Swivel Loop McCord M1 Helmet Shell (October 1943)

Late-WWII Swivel Loop McCord M1 Helmet Shell (October 1943)

This is an original WWII U.S. front seam McCord manufactured M1 helmet shell. The heat stamp of 671B dates the helmet's production to October 1943. Evidence of grinding at the swivel loops, in combination with the relatively early heat stamp, indicates this helmet likely left the factory as a fixed loop before undergoing a depot refurbishment. It retains original paint, cork texture, and an OD#7 chinstrap. The chinstrap features a steel buckle and a T1 J-hook. This helmet would pair very nicely with a high pressure helmet liner with blackened brass A-washers.
