This is an original WWII German manufactured M42 ex-single decal Waffen SS helmet set. Its original feldgrau factory finish is in well-worn condition and the SS decal has been completely scraped away - likely done after November 1, 1943, coinciding with the order from German high command, directing the omission of SS decals from all helmets. The inside brim is stamped with a lot number of 2770, however its size and factory stamping is undetectable - a common flaw among Eisenhüttenwerke, Thale (ET/ckl) manufactured M42 helmets. That said, the helmet has been measured and is a confirmed size 68. Recorded within Brian Ice's German Helmet Lot Numbers 1935-1945 are confirmed Waffen SS examples just two lots away. The helmet's interior retains its original size 60 leather liner, drawstring, and chinstrap. The chinstrap exhibits a grey-painted steel buckle and no visible manufacturer's marking. The helmet's split pins and washers are all original and show no signs of tampering.
