This is an original WWII German manufactured M38 fallschirmjäger helmet shell. The inside brim is size stamped ckl68, lot number 4054, denoting late-war production by the Eisenhüttenwerke, Thale factory. The helmet's distinctive raised rim is unique to the 4054 lot number. The helmet has a slight indentation at the top, but retains much of its original factory paint finish. The sides appear to have once been adorned with Luftwaffe insignia, likely added then removed post-war, while the front of the helmet showcases some light paint removal. The interior exhibits a faint inked dome stamp and crimped rim, resulting from the manufacturing process. This helmet will display quite nicely when completed with original accessories - a project that I, unfortunately, have little time to pursue.
